Try A Mindfulness Music Practice

Imagine this…the sun is just beginning to set in a sky painted with soft shades of orange, pink and dusty purple, the air holds the sweet smell of summer, the vibe is one of anticipated joy and excitement and nothing but smiling faces to be found. Does this sound like someplace you’d like to be for the evening? Me too. And I was!!

There’s nothing like hearing your favorite artist jam at an outdoor theater in the summertime – especially during that short sunny season of the Midwest. I don’t know about you, but I’m completely impatient waiting every year for outdoor music and can’t get enough!

But I’m not your average attendee – not surprisingly, my behavior is just a little different…

I DARE YOU…take the leap into mindfulness. 

Earlier today I was reading a great article in Mindful magazine titled Out Of The Box by Michael Krass and Lever Rukhur (April 2016 edition). The gist of the article is that we can meditate anywhere.

Have you had a day where that inner critic just won’t ease up? The one that says everything you’re doing is wrong . It tells you incessantly that whatever you are working on will never be up to snuff, and you know it. Or even better, how about the sky is absolutely, without a doubt, falling, and we are all going to die – TODAY.

How does negativity affect you? We all have an internal reaction when we hear someone complaining, gossiping or talking badly about someone else. It’s near impossible to change the behavior of others. But we do have the ability to control our own, and more importantly, what is going on in our mind.
